On 5 April 2019, during Frisian Flag 2019, the Swiss Air Force' Boeing F/A-18C Hornet "J-5003" was seen at Leeuwarden Air Base (EHLW/LWR). Frisian Flag is a multinational exercise in the Netherlands. Boeing F/A-18C Hornet "J-5003" is operated by Fliegerstaffel 11 of the Swiss Air Force, based at Militärflugplatz Meiringen in Berner Oberland. Although Switzerland is not a NATO member, Fliegerstaffel 11 is a member of the 'Tiger Association', which links all the squadrons with a tiger as a squadron emblem. On 21 May 1997, Boeing F/A-18C-48-MC Hornet s/n 1319/SFC003 was seen first in service with the Swiss Air Force as J-5003.
