The Czech Sport Aircraft PS-28 Cruiser is a two-seat, low wing, single-engine, semi monocoque structure aeroplane,
with cantilevered wings and a tricycle landing gear. The aircraft was designed and built as
the SportCruiser by Czech Aircraft Works (CZAW) and flown first on 22 December 2005. The SportCruiser was
designed to fit into the ultralight or microlight category in several countries as well as in the
light-sport aircraft category in the United States. In 2009, the Regional Court in Brno, Czech Republic
declared Czech Aircraft Works bankrupt. The same year, the successor company Czech Aircraft Group s.r.o.
in Kunovice, was founded and entered the markt with the Czech Sport Aircraft SportCruiser. As before by
CZAW, the Czech Sport Aircraft company is focused on the research, design, development and production of
all-metal light sport aircraft. On 21 January 2010, Piper Aircraft announced that they had licensed a
derivative of the SportCruiser and would market it as the PiperSport. The PiperSport was a minimally
modified version of the existing SportCruiser. The plan was that it would continue to be manufactured
by Czech Sport Aircraft a.s., Kunovice, with Piper's manufacturing operation playing no part in the construction,
although Piper was distributing parts. On 12 January 2011, after selling a total of 45 aircraft,
Piper announced that the PiperSport would be discontinued. In 2012, the PS-28 Cruiser was introduced.
The PS-28 Cruiser is a double-seat low-wing monoplane developed by Czech Sport Aircraft. The aircraft
is used for basic and advanced flight training, air clubs, recreational use, air tourism and basic military
training. The aircraft obtained type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in April
2012 in the light sport aircraft category. In October 2012, the first EASA-certified PS-28 Cruiser entered
service. On 26 April 2020, EASA Type Certification was applied for the PS-28N Cruiser version and this model
obtained EASA CS.LSA certification on 26 April 2021. The SportCruiser; PS-28 and PS-28N Cruiser are successfully
operated in more than 30 countries all around the world with over 600 units produced. The ICAO code for the

PiperSport — version built from 2010 till 2011 by Czech Sport Aircraft and marketed by Piper Aircraft, available only as a completed aircraft and equipped with 100 hp (75 kW) Rotax 912ULS engine. Discontinued in January 2011.
